I considered the DADT reg. to be a vast improvement over what policies I was forced to live by at the time. It took many heroic and man and women, such as Mr. Petrie, to begin to make the arguments against this unjust policy. Conditions for gay service members are far different today than they were in 1990, when Mr. Petrie, took up the cause for social and legal equality. He is to be commended and always remembered. He has always had a very inclusive, open leadership style. Making USNA Out a source of inspiration and support for mids was always at the forefront of everything Jeff did and he has had a tremendous influence on dozens of Annapolis grads. It's been an honor to know him and collaborate with him on a number of initiatives. A true hero to our community. I want to add to this article a comment about what an amazing leader Jeff is.
