I think the last sentence said it all. Every employer should be concerned about the performance of their employees. We should have no interest in who they love unless we, as individuals. are directly involved.

I handled ammunition on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. My concern was the whether the person on the other end of the missile could hold up their end while mounting it on an aircraft. Who they saw, or what they did off work was not my concern. It never should be unless it impacts their ability to do the job.

Bravo to everyone who has worked so hard for our lives to make sense.

American Veterans for Equal Rights is proud of our 21 year history of helping defeat the nearly 100 year old ban against LGBT military service. AVER looks forward to continuing our work with OUTSERVE, SLDN, and other LGBT military organizations as we ensure the implementation of repeal, work for the inclusion of full Transgender service, and fight for the promised benefits of all United States military veterans. To paraphrase LTC Loomis, our nation and our military are better for the repeal of the ban, and the Untied States of America is both truer to ourselves and more secure in our identity as a nation that values all of our citizens and embraces equality and liberty as cornerstones of our society. Thank you OUTSERVE, for honoring the work of AVER with this exceptional article by LTC Loomis.
