My partner just returned from deployment last month and we plan to also participate in the YR program. Reintegration is hard regardless of your sexual orientation. Glad to hear you had a positive experience.

After a deployment this year my girlfriend went to the YR ceremony with me. I took her under the "personal representative" or something "representative". The unit put her on orders, and we stayed at the hotel together. It was a couple days after the repeal so I didn't really push anything, but since I talked about her through the deployment most knew.

Good for you standing up for your family!! I recently had an issue with my partner of 10 years. It hurts when you get stopped at the gate to the base and have to wait for someone to vouch for you. If I had a dependent card this would not of happened. I hope that my partner one day feels that she can stand up and say that it isn't right also.
